Your Choices for HatchBack: Super Renault Clio

Renault is making already hot hatches for feisty, well, actually decades has seldom met and, in contrast to Peugeot, his eyes to the GTI ball. My first car was a 1980 Renault 5 and I remember lusting after the turbo I could not afford, the Clio Williams was promising Pocket Rockets, and a number of models since Renaultsport has left us in no doubt that La aware Regie engineers that one or two of Le chaud hatch.
I have recently been some time in the latest Renaultsport Clio Cup. Now I do not know how about you, but I’m confused too little in the scheme of fast Renaults. A Cup Trophy is here, a pinch of whole numbers and do not get me started on the forthcoming, brand-stretching Gordini models. It is a confection made marketing nuances that makes me wince. But there’s nowt wrong with the product.
A light green Clio Cup is about to join car’s long-term test fleet, which carried by our staff writer Ben Pulman invaluable. He is in the choice of the purist flopped: Cup a stripped-out model. Loads in the search for Junk-36kg over the regular Clio 200, it niceties like air conditioning (a pain in the winter), posh dash plastics and leccy mirrors, and it’s crisp specced some optional Recaro seats. He does not know struggle with cars, Mr. P.
At a time when even the mildest of the Korean cars have most things pretty well, we often talk about motoring journos character. Well, the Clio Cup hisses positively with the stuff. From his burning eyes lacquer finish in the cabin of the purists, this is a car for the ride.
The basic Clio is now often overlooked, so fast is the pace of change in the small car sector. It is a spacious, well built compact and full of verve. A perfect base for a rapid Pocket Rocket. But the gurus Renaultsport has a pinch of magic to transform Good to Great.
They sit in the Recaros embraced, and all the controls are perfectly weighted and exactly where they should be. Even an amateur like me can with his foot on the brake roll and blip the throttle, so well placed, are the pedals. And you want it down at every change, is so eager to cut the Clio 200 and into the next corner into slices. The 2.0-liter pot is a strong character, which is also delivering its 197bhp at a screaming 7100rpm. No wonder, editor McNamara was muttering about this being the Lambo in small cars.
I recently drove the Clio Cup back in the same way as the Lamborghini Murcielago SV. And you know what? I just had so much fun in the Renault as a super sports car. The Clio thrill on another level, it flatters the driver goads you in perfecting your line and is a timely reminder that fun need not happen at mega speeds in this camera-infested environment.
