Mugen Type-RR was finally Revealed

The Mugen tunned Honda Civic Type-RR is one of the cars that managed to get our attention at Detroit Auto Show, and it made its debut with a new 260 HP (194 kW) 2.2L K20A engine. The engine of this wonderful care is based on a regular 2.0L Type-R unit but with the help of a stroker kit, now it features 2,157cc. We could say this one is the same basic i-VTEC 2.0L unit but it’s not like that because Honda has reduced friction on the internals and redesigned the camshafts. The car also sports modifications at brakes , shocks, springs and also at Mugen’s new “I-TCMS” tire monitoring system.

Volvo for sale

Ford doesn’t want to admit but it seems that Volvo is up for grabs.Rumors say that by next summer the Swedish company will chance owners.Ford will lose the last PAG component that it owns,as Land Rover and Jaguar have already been sold to the Tata group.

It is estimated that Ford will take almost 6 billion dollars,very close to the amount that it payed in 1999:6,45 billion

It’s sad that the Detroit guys couldn’t get Volvo to the wanted level,even though the plan was destined to succeed.Volvo has always been a respected brand and I believe that Ford is making a big mistake but bussiness is bussiness…

It’s a cart,it’s a buggy!No,it’s the Jeep Renegade!

>Even though it looks like a buggy on steroids the new Renegade is actually a real off-road monster.Showing a simple design,this car offers adventure posibilities unseen before on a production model.The solid chassis makes sure that the car won’t roll over on rough terrain.

Now here’s what I really think.This car looks like a gay Wrangler and if you want an off-road vehicle you won’t buy this because everybody will make fun of you.If you want a street car you won’t buy this because everybody will make fun of you.So it’s seif to say that the Renegade is useless.

The fun part is that this model wants to prove it’s good so it has 2 engines.But,once again,faith is cruel.The engines ar electrical,both of them.Developing 268 HP,with an autonomy of 60 km,they need an extra engine,a 1.5 litre,3 cylinder,115 HP.

The Fisker Karma and 150mpg XH-150 hybrids revealed at Detroit Auto Show

Fisker Karma Hybrid

There were a lot of hybrid cars revealed at this year’s Detroit Auto Show. On of those cars is Fisker Automotive plug-in hybrid, which is set to be delivered starting 2009. Maybe you are wondering were does its name come from, well, Fisker is the namesake of Danish-born Henrik Fisker (CEO at BWM and Aston Martin designer). This model can go up to 50 miles before the gas engine kicks in to charge the lithium-ion batteries. It sports a 150mph top speed and it’s able to reach 60 mph in just 5.8 seconds.

150mpg plug-in hybrid XH-150 SUV

Another interesting hybrid form Detroit Auto Show is the 150mpg plug-in hybrid XH-150 SUV from AFS Trinity Power Corporation. Why is so special ? Well, this car is different from the traditional hybrids the XH-150’s powertrain uses ultra-capacitors, not gas. It goes from 0 to 60 in 6.9 seconds with a top highway speed of just 87mph. Anyway, AFS Trinity is more focused on licensing their ultra-capacitor technology than to bring the XH-150 to market.

Porsche Panamera Hybrid on its way

You’ve heard it well, the guys from Porsche AG declared in a recent conference that they will soon unveil the hybrid version ot their yet-to-be released Panamera sports sedan. They initial plan was to build a hybrid-powertrain version of the next generation Cayenne SUV in 2010, but it seems they will build these 2 models simultaneosly (the cars will sport the same full-hybrid system capable of running on its gas engine, solely via its electric motor, or a combination of the two).

Anyway, don’t be too excited about the Panamera Hybrid, cos you can buy it as late as 2013, but it will make its debut in 2009 with a non-hybrid drive. As we’ve heard from unofficial sources, it seems that Porsche is investing more than €1 billion in the development of the Panamera, which is a premium-class Sports Coupé with four seats and four doors. Porsche also promises that buying this hybrid car, you will see some minuses at the fuel bills. Compared to the conventionally powered Panamera, Porsche claims 30 percent better fuel economy. We’ll have to wait and see because we won’t belive it until we see it.
