Over 100 years of motorsport legacy:the Skoda Fabia Super 2000
Based on the second generation Fabia this car is meant to compete in the Super 2000 category and as FIA regulations say it has a 2 litre 4 cylinder normal aspirated engine,a 6 speed sequential gear box and 4 wheel drive helped by 3 mechanical differentials. From a design point of view this car looks great even though it will probabily never roam the treets.I think Skoda realised that there’s a lot of almost free publicity in the racing scene so they want to get a piece of the action.
Dr. Eckhard Scholz,a borad member over at Skoda Auto and also the one responsible with the technological development, declare the following: “We are glad to have started testing the Fabia Super 2000. This year we are planning to optimise and certify the vehicle so that we can use it on both national and international levels. When exactly will the vehicle be released for competition use will depend on the achieved progress, relevant test results and the final certification. Then we are also planning to offer the vehicle to private teams. Based on a customer service arrangement, further development work on the vehicle will be done in close cooperation with our importers worldwide”.
The saviour:Cadillac CTS-V
The US car industry just can’t make it on the European market.I mean there are a couple of exceptions but in general America loses ground by the day.A solution had to be foud fast to stop the reign of 3 models: BMW M5, Mercedes E63 AMG and Audi RS6.
The solution, the Cadillac CTS-V.It has just been launched in its 2009 version.
Design wise I’m not sure the Americans will know how to appreciate it.Europe will just chose to ignore this car altogether, wich is a sad thing.I personaly think that the design Cadillac has adopted is a very cool way to reinvent a brand.
mechanicaly this car will be able to stand against its European rivals mainly because of its beautilully engineered susspension. Also it has great stability and traction control systems.
under the hood we’ll fiind a 6.2 litre V8 that deliveres 550 HP and 745 Nm of torque. That puts the CTS-V above the M5 and the E63 AMG but under the wonderful RS6.The 6 speed transmission sends all that power to the rear wheels via some padles on the steering wheel.
I’m sure that Cadillac won’t bring the Detroit muscle back on its feet but it’s a admirable atempt.
Watch out!the R4 is coming…
In the past Porsche Cayman ruled the streets but it seems that starting with 2011 there’ll be a new kid on the block:a supercar from Audi, the R4.
The two- seater will come both as a coupe and a roadster and just like its big brother, the R8,will have an agressive look and a brand new platform.Design wise, the R4 will resemble the A1 Metroproject concept and the R8.The chassis will be made of steel, not exactely space age,but the engineers promised a combined weight under 1300 kg.
The engines will also be worthy of our atention:an improved version of the well known 2.0 TFSI and a top of the range 300 HP monster.
You might be inclined to assume that the Porsche Boxster and Cayman will be the R4’s closest competitors but I think that BMW’s M division and Mercedes’ AMG will run a tighter race.
A shy baby Rolls
Who invented the phrase”bigger is better” knew what he was saying.Let’s take for instance the new baby Rolls.Scheduled for 2010 this car shares the chassis and most of the technology with the 7 Series. But the prices will be „different”.Most experts say that the baby Rolls will set you back between 150.000 and 200.000 USD.
From the engine point of view I would like to take a peek at the new diesel Rolls Royce will put under this car’s hood.

So I think bigger is better because nowone will buy this car even though it’s a Rolls.Size matters and if you are willing to spend a lot of money on a car you’ll make sure it’s the biggest car your money can buy.
I’m sorry but these spy photos are all that I can show you for the moment.

PPI is on the right track
First of all,I must say that I don’t see the point of a car like the Q7.Second,I wouldn’t buy a Q7,X5 or Cayenne to save my life. That being sayd,I admit that PPI did an awesome job.I mean look at that body kit!The front and rear spoiler, the rear difusor and the wheel flared arches give the car an agressive look never seen before on a Q7.Audi better get working on a sporty version of their SUV because it’s obvoius that people need a little more attitude.
The width has been increased with 100 mm and the 4 exhaust tips make you forget that you drive an SUV.PPI can increase the power with 46 more HP but I think that you might want to wait for the supercharged 4,2 litre V8 engine that will put aut 600 HP.
All in all a big improvement.Let’s hope that PPI will kep on transforming dull SUVs into fire breathing monsters.
