Renault Megane Coupe Concept stuns Geneva

It might seem just a concept and for now that’s exactely what it is but Renault Megane Coupe will be a production model. The concept shows us the overall lines of the new model and the new range actually. The actual production model will debut at the Paris Auto Show and will most probabily replace the current model next year.Renault Megane Coupe Concept

What stikes me is the resemblance with the new Laguna. The Gulwing doors are there just to impress and to give the car a futuristic feel. The interior is also from the future and nowone can imagine it in a production model(at least not for the next 10 years anyway).Renault Megane Coupe Concept

The back reminds us that the current Megane hatchback isn’t dead yet but it shows its age.

Even though the actual car will be more down to Earth, this concept is a great feat of engineering and the guys over at Renault proved that even if they’re French, that doesn’t mean that they have to make nice and cudly cars.Good for them and I hope they keep it up.Renault Megane Coupe Concept

Geneva Preview : Fioravanti Hidra concept

Fioravanti, the Italian design house celebrates this year, its 20th anniversary by unveiling the Hidra concept at Geneva’s Auto Show. The Hidra doesn’t look like a car that we’d want to drive, and it seems to be rather strange than innovative, depends how you look at it.

Fioravanti Hidra concept

Go back to 2001, when Leonardo Fioravanti, a stylist who worked on such Ferrari designs as the Dino and Daytona, presented LF concept. If you remember, Alfa Romeo wasn’t likely to build that concept, even if it was very attractive, but the LF acted as a showcase for an innovative folding roof mechanism, which Ferrari used four year later on the Superamerica. If you ask me, i think the Hidra doesn’t have too many odds to be built but we could never know. We’ll get back to you with more infos regarding the Hidra concept , next week.

GM’s Hummer HX: a different concept

There were a lot of complaints regarding Hummer’s fuel efficiency vehicles, and something along those lines may explain a concept vehicle introduced by the company at this year’s Detroit Auto Show. It’s smaller, lighter and even E85 capable new SUV dubbed the Hummer HX. GM CEO Rick Wagoner said only positive things about the ethanol-based fuel used in the new design, which rings a number of Halo bells, different than Jeep Renegade’s. The sport-utility sports a lot of unique features, such as : armored underbelly, customizable LED displays, removable fender flares and roof and lack of a radio or CD player (but it has an iPod dock). As you might have been expected, the car is just for show right now but it might be the sign that the age of fuel-guzzling Hummers is coming to a close end.

Land Rover LRX Concept to embed iPhone

A new and interesting concept was revealed a few days ago. We’re talking about the Land Rover LRX Concept which is different from the other concept cars, because it features iPhone integration. How cool is that, folks?  From what we’ve heard it seems that the concept vehicle will sport a couple of touchscreens, one of which is used to “control the LRX’s iPhone facility.” This car will also have an iPod docking station and a pair of removable speakers on the tailgate. Nevertheless, we should find out more about this concept when it hits the Detroit Auto Show floor in January 2008.
