Halogen to HID Headlights Upgrade is Easy

As HID headlights are becoming more and more popular for new cars, it might be time to upgrade your halogen equipped car. Firstly, let’s explain what HID headlights are, why they perform better and why you should buy a set.
An HID light is a bulb which has a micro-environment of gas, usually Xenon, that burns brightly when an electrical charge is arced across two points. This is different to a halogen bulb which has a filament that heats up and eventually burns out. The Xenon gas helps the light to start and once the metals are hot enough they light up an amazing blueish white or pure white.
Whilst they sound expensive as you only seem to see high end luxury cars with them, they are a great investment. Not only can you see further and better with them but they last far longer than halogen bulbs which means you don’t have to replace them, therefore can be cheaper in the long run. HID conversion kits are great and as they are not DOT approved they are best suited to off-road use.
The HID kit comes with a ballast. This is used to help start the lamp and acts as a regulator to ensure the correct amount of electricity is running through the bulbs. Without a ballast, the units are so powerful they would destroy themselves. There are certain types of ballast which are used with high intensity discharge bulbs; electronic, magnetic and digital ballasts. All are fairly self-explanatory, but the digital one uses far less energy and electricity itself for the same results. It also works on a higher frequency and allows a finer hold over the correct temperatures, ensuring an even longer lasting lifespan. Whichever HID kit you choose, you will definitely see the amazing benefits instantly.
