Yes, some styling of the older cars off the edge, in both senses, but it’s still a striking looking car and is characterized by a mile to a parking lot full of boring old Polo. Let us be clear, though, while it looks radical, there is nothing spectacular about its engineering and there is only a torsion beam under the boot floor.

A4? This is the new 2010 Audi A8, Ingolstadt technological flagship, a limo for a supercar boasting style aluminum space frame and the type of toys that would make Inspector Gadget envious (and owners grateful that Lucas does not, Audi electrics).

The step into the A8 is not like a step in a normal car, it’s like to walk in the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show. I have recently been some time in the latest Renaultsport Clio Cup. Now I do not know how about you, but I’m confused too little in the scheme of fast Renaults. A Cup Trophy is here, a pinch of whole numbers and do not get me started on the forthcoming, brand-stretching Gordini models. It is a confection made marketing nuances that makes me wince. But there’s nowt wrong with the product.

A light green Clio Cup is about to join car’s long-term test fleet, which carried by our staff writer Ben Pulman invaluable. He is in the choice of the purist flopped: Cup a stripped-out model. Loads in the search for Junk-36kg over the regular Clio 200, it niceties like air conditioning (a pain in the winter), posh dash plastics and leccy mirrors, and it’s crisp specced some optional Recaro seats. The 2.0-liter pot is a strong character, which is also delivering its 197bhp at a screaming 7100rpm. No wonder, editor McNamara was muttering about this being the Lambo in small cars.

I recently drove the Clio Cup back in the same way as the Lamborghini Murcielago SV. And you know what? I just had so much fun in the Renault as a super sports car. The Clio thrill on another level, it flatters the driver goads you in perfecting your line and is a timely reminder that fun need not happen at mega speeds in this camera-infested environment.
