Slightly show her face: Ferrari 2009 California
Ferrari 2009 California
Ferrari today revealed the first images and official details of the 2009 Ferrari California, the latest addition to the new generation of Ferraris launched in 2004 with the 612 Scaglietti and added to more recently with the 430 Scuderia.
The 2009 Ferrari California will be powered by a new V8 engine mounted for the first time in the marque’s history in the mid-front position. The engine develops 460 CV at 7,500 rpm with a torque curve that enhances vehicle dynamics and provides maximum driving pleasure which is typical for Ferrari.
As per the traditional Ferrari transaxle layout, the engine, which allows the 2009 Ferrari California to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4.0 seconds, will be coupled to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission that boosts the car’s performance while enhancing the driving pleasure, improves ride comfort and reduces fuel consumption and emissions (c.310 g/km CO2).
Ferrari California will make its world debut this autumn at the Paris Motor Show, but more details on 2009 Ferrari california will be unveiled in the upcoming weeks. We will keeping an eye on this beauty and let’s wait for the Motor show..
Ferrari FXX prototype to be upgraded
Ferrari needed two years of testing until they’ve made large-scale improvements to one of the most extreme supercars they’ve ever built. Now, the FXX prototype can make 860 horsepower (641.3kW) at a screaming 9500RPM and it also incorporates the absolute bleeding edge of barely-filtered F1 technology.
Unfortunately , the FXX isn’t homologated for road use and Ferrari has no plans to race it. In fact, it only exists for a tiny group fo selected Ferrari owners which lets them acting as developement drivers to test this extraordinary edge of Ferrari’s F1-bred roadcar technology.
After 14 group test sessions and 14 private ones over the last two years , the modifications made to the car have focused on honing its aerodynamics , running gear and electronics. So, the final FXX built is a little different from the other, it’s painted in black (not in red, as we was used to) and its side panels bear the signatures of its well-known owner, Michael Schumacher. The famous F1 pilot contributed a lot to the car’s development and driven it at various exhibitions all around the world.
Maranello’s engineers had a lot of tests information and they were able to see what’s wrong and what they can further develop. They’ve started with the 6262 cc V12 engine which now punch out a massive 860 hp at 9500 rpm, compared to the relatively anaemic 651 horsepower of the US$643,330 Enzo Ferrari. Gearshifting was reduced to 60 ms, a drop of 20 ms on the previous time, and the gear ratios were adapted to make use of the extra 1000 rpm now delivered by the engine.
The car’s new traction control system gives the driver the posibility to modify the car’s behaviour on the track from corner to corner, just as the Formula 1 drivers do to maximise performance. The new traction control is also less invasive and more flexible and it can adaptate more efficiently to the driving style of each person who drives it. Whoaaa ! Where have you seen this before ?
Ferrari FXX Evolution 2008
Ferrari FXX has a development program based on Clients Test Drivers for improving handling and performance. This group also includes Michael Schumacher who will test this project car. I know you are a little excited about this car guys, but unfortunately its purpose is not to be street legal. Very dissapointing indeed.
Ferarri FXX’s 6262cc V12 sports an engine that can now punch out a massive 860 bhp at 9500 rpm. Another innovative feature is the traction control that offers 9 different profiles and switching them won’t be hard (it’s like switching a gear).
Well, it seems that this extraordinary car has a brand new special front suspension geometry and large Composite Ceramic Material for the Brembo breaks. Also, the car has a different aerodynamic shape that increases the downforce over the rear axle.
An SUV from Ferrari? Why?
The answer is actualy very simple:money and power. That’s right! And what about the motivation? Well, that’s also very simple:envy. Porsche were proudly showing off their Cayenne sales so the guys from Maranello set their mind on making their own SUV. I can almost see most of the Ferrari fans jumping out the window…
That being said, the SUV will have to be a pretyy good car to match the Cayenne. Technologicaly the new Ferrari will be identical with a sports car: 600 HP, 600Nm, 0 to 60 in less than 5 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph.
Will this car really be a „Cayenne killer”? We’ll have to wait and see because its first appearence will be in 2010 at Geneva. Oh…and one more thing: the price tag-250.000 de euros, a lot of money for such an ugly car.
