Three years after unveiling the Audi Le Mans Quattro concept, the series version is having its debut at Paris Motor Show- the new model of Audi R8.
Audi incorporated the name and the performances of the race car ,5 times winner at the Le Mans race, Audi R8 , into a spectacular sports car.

Being the first Audi with a motor placed central, R8 combines the experience gained by Audi in numerous races from motor-sport, with an exceptional design.

2029 mm wide (with side mirrors), 4431 mm length and 1241 mm height – these are the proportions of a real race car. The ampatament of 2650 mm offers space for a comfortable cabin, and the engine mounted longitudinal at the back of cabin. Behind the doors, the huge air deflectors assure the cooling of the V8 engine.
The frontal side is characterized by the style of the trapeze shape grid, specific Audi, flanked right and left by additional oversized air plugs.
For the first time, the Audi sign formed by the 4 circles is placed on the hood over the grid. The right lines of the headlights innovative with the LED technology, covered by cases with clear sign, contributes at the sporty aspect of the new Audi R8.Audi R8 is the first series car which offers, optionally, the possibility of mounting all the headlights functions, the low and high beam , the day lights and the signal lights – by the LED technology (,, light-emitting diodes ‘’), which has an substantial advantage against the classic lightening, by the long standing life. Because occupies less space than the conventional lights bulbs, the LEDs offers the designers greater possibilities for creativity. The body is built integrally from aluminum, with Audi Space Frame design (ASF). Is the perfect synthesis of the minimum weight and the maximum rigidity, offering the ideal base for an optimum dynamics of driving, as well as extraordinary performances, with a power/weight proportion of only 3.7 kg/HP.

From a glimpse, Audi R8 is a lower car, with the rear very accentuated, seeming to strain its muscles being ready for sprint. The characteristic proportions of the vehicle are dictated by the location of the engine, at the rear of the cabin. The new Audi R8 shape is specific to the race cars. One of the best examples of this design is the Grand Prix car Auto Union Type C. The central position of the propeller is decisive in dynamic performances and allows the weight distribution to be optimum: 44% on the front axe and 56% on the rear axe.

The body seems compact. The frontal side and the gentile curves of the arch shaped roof are drew like a continuous line; a line which immediately marks the vehicle as being an Audi with 2 seats.
The cabin of the new Audi R8 is placed very frontal – a facility typical to the cars with the engine placed central, and from here the link to the car with the same name. At the rear of the cabin, placed in front of the rear axe, is situated the V8 FSI engine, a real engineering sculpture, visible not only from behind, through the big field glass, but also from the interior of the car.

The sportive interior is dominated by the dash tools completely orientated to driver, which is integrated between the dash and the higher centre of the central console. Beside the architecture orientated to driver, also reflected in the side windows style, the choice of materials, the interior offers functionality and comfort. Looking around, from the driver seat, results only a thing: also like at the race car R8, the style and the position of all the elements from the cabin are concentrated on the essential. In the center of attention is only the driver.

This combination of esthetic and ergonomics is held in the chose colors and in the created ambience. The used sportive seats are covered in combination of leather/Alcantara, or optionally, completely in leather. Alternatively, Audi R8 could be endow with more special seats, designed by the Quattro GmbH team. There is enough space for two people, the level of comfort being high above the average of super sports cars.
The engine V8 FSI, as the cars propelled by turbo engines, offers powerful acceleration, very high torque, all combined with a fascinating sound – characteristic to a perfect sport engine.
The 4.2 liters engine, with 8 cylinders and direct injection of gas, develops 420 HP.
The torque of 317 Nm is obtained at revolutions of 4.500 – 6.000 rpm. And not less de 90% of this torque is held constantly on a great beach of revolutions: from 3.500 to 7.600 rpm. As a result of these qualities, the engine with 8 cylinders assures the optimum performances in any situations. Zero to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 301 km/h.
For this super engine are available 2 variants of transmissions: a manual transmission cu 6 gears, or optionally, the Audi R-tronic sequential system.

Even in the standard endowment, the new Audi R8 raises to the highest standards of equipment and comes to meet with the requirements of the consumers of this segment. Xenon headlights, LED back lights,18 inch aluminum wheels, an audio system with a 7 inch monitor, alarm and upholstery Leather/Alcantara, are only a few endowments from the standard car.The new Audi R8 is assembled on a small production line specialy created at the Audi plant in Neckarsulm.The whole production process is similar to airplane making.A few specialists verify each step of production in order to ensure the high-end quality demanded by the customers.
