 Chevrolet Beat 2009

Seems will get popular for the first post~ Now we move on to the next Star Cars – Chevrolet Beat 2009

Price starting from: 6500 pounds (est)

On Sale: Winter

Why so Great ? Funky looks, low price.

Chevrolet’s Beat 2009 looks like it’ll be more in tune with younger buyers than its predecessor, the Matiz.

Yes, it’ll still be cheap, cheerful and compact, but if the production model looks anything like the concept car that’s been doing the rounds – and you can be sure it will – it’ll be a lot more stylish.

Chevrolet says the production car will have five rather than three doors, but other changes are likely to be minimal. A three-door car may join the range at a later date, although this body style could be reserved for a sporty range-topper.

Prices are likely to start at around £6500. The entry-level model will be powered by a frugal 850cc three-cylinder petrol engine. A 1.0-liter four-cylinder version will provide stronger performance and a 1.2 petrol is expected to power any sportier derivatives.

Price starting from: 8000 pounds (est)

Why so Great ? Competitive Price, strong safty standards.

Hyundai’s replacement for the Getz, the i20, is going up against the giants of the supermini world, such as the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa, using high equipment levels and affordable pricing as its weapons.

Expect to save about £1000 over comparable rivals, with the well-equipped five-door models priced from around the £9000 mark. Three-door cars follow later in the spring and are tipped to cost £1000 less than this.

Engines available from launch include two petrols and two diesels. The petrols are a 78bhp 1.2-liter or a 100bhp 1.4. The 1.4 diesels have 75bhp and 90bhp. The i20 is expected to score highly on safety, with 2009 Hyundai confident of doing well in 2009’s tougher, revised Euro NCAP crash tests.

The new tests will include a check on how well a car minimises whiplash injuries in an accident, so Hyundai is fitting special headrests in all i20s. These move to support the head in the event of a rear-end crash. These are three trims-Classic, Comfort and Style. Each has six airbags and air-con as standard. Stability controls is optional. In 2010, the 90bhp 1.4 diesel will be badged i-Blue, which is Hyundai’s name for its more environmentally friendly models. It will deliver 68mpg on the combined cycle and release 99g/km of carbon dioxide, so you won’t pay any road tax for it. Hyundai has done this by tweaking the aerodynamics, adding six-speed gearbox and using low-friction oil and low-rolling-resistance tyres. Depending on demand, Hyundai may also offer a more powerful 1.6 diesels to provide a hot model for the range.

Weekly Review Car: Lovely Ford Fiesta Retrospect

Lovely Ford Fiesta

Since its birth in the year 1977, the Ford Fiesta has been one of the most popular cars in the UK. With around eighty thousand superminis hitting the British streets last year, the Fiesta is still a best-seller. However, though British love fast Fords, the lack of its performance version has left many customers disappointed.
Finally, the long wait is over. The new Fiesta of Ford has arrived!
For starters, Ford is going to turn heads with its large, swept-back headlamps, steeply rising waist and high-mounted rear lights. There are three-door styles and five-door styles. Besides, the Zetec S trim adds a neat bodykit as well.
The cabin of Ford Fiesta has Mondeo-style dials and a centre console design that’s been influenced by mobile phones. The large LCD display screen helps to give the interior of the car the same fresh look as the outside. The only gripe is the quality of plastics, as some don’t match the demands of the class leaders.
The latest Ford Fiesta can hold up to five adults easily, and the boot is 281 liters. The cabin doesn’t have the clever seating systems as the Honda Jazz and Nissan Note does, but there are many features more commonly seen in big cars, such as optional keyless start, cruise control, a trip computer, powered mirrors, automatic lights and wipers, plus five airbags, etc. Equipped with so many extra equipments, to improve performance, the Fiesta’s weight has dropped by 40 kilogram while boosting fuel economy and lowering emissions.
The most frugal variant is the ECOnetic, capable of 76.3mpg with a CO2 figure of 99g/km. The smooth, refined unit offers punchy performance, so the car is equally at home whether zipping around town or effortlessly racking up the motorway miles. Improved sound insulation and aerodynamics make the car much quieter than ever, giving it great level of refinement.
Last but not least, the new electric power-assisted steering is well weighted and direct, giving the Ford Fiesta sharp responses and amazing agility on the road. Tight bends and mid-corner bumps can’t upset its composure, while the slick five-speed box has a beautiful feel. Comfort to ride is excellent as well.
